    Thank god for the dog

After a bit of early morning muppetry which saw me cock up and wound a deer which we had spotlighted.
Dog saved the day. Found the blood trail at daylight and 5 hours later and 4km up hill and down dale following the pooch doing her " Tracking my first deer" imitation. We caught up with it and put it out of its misery.
The original shot was a total case of mupperty and its the first time ever I have wounded an animal rather than instant dispatch.

All I can say is won't be leaving her at home ever

    Well done Gracie

Well it did take here a wee while to figure out me following tiny blood specks up a fucken steep hill covered in thick bush actually meant "go find the deer".
Eventually she cottoned on and would rush ahead, then come back to find me. When she lost it her search pattern was typical pointer, which confused the hell out of me for a start.

With out her I would have lost the animal and it would have died a slow death which is something i try very hard to avoid.

She is gonna have to accept being a "deer dog" cause deer season here is longer than the pheasant season and there are more of them too.
I know there are more suitable breeds but I like pointers

She aint doing too bad considering....
