Running 53gr of 2209 with 162 ELD-M at 2705fps, 18" barrel.
Both variations in the ammo and the shooter.
I'll be there of course (just up the road and I technically work for Sparrowhawk too).
This is a great time and is very worthwhile for any hunter. I've shot it with a 223 and finished in the top...
Sparrowhawk NZ has targets at over 2,000m. unless its an Open Day, call Nick (details on the website).
Depends on the agreement with the landowners. I know we mainly focus on hinds. But we don't do any public land either. 246046

Some WARO has occurred in some of the recently opened concession areas (northern Southland etc) , but the bulk of WARO is happening on private land in the past 12 months or so.
The prices still...
My understanding is yes, anyone can visit at any time (including non-hunter in the ballot period). The only restriction is during the rut, and this is only for hunting.
This also means that you...
Great to see some people agreeing we have a problem that is growing rapidly. Hopefully, this means that there will be better acceptance when landowners, regional councils, and public land...
Its built to budget I suspect. To keep anything to a price point, you have to make choices in functionality. Given the trigger history Remington had, this is a good decision for the US market (the...

I believe all new Remington's are now shipping with Timney triggers, even the M700 etc. The Alpha 1 has an Elite Hunter, a very good trigger. Plus I understand that the M700 have a new trigger from...
Quite a few options within an hour or two from Christchurch. Deer numbers are high throughout the area. Not the the area above Lake Lyndon gets a lot of traffic, mainly mountain bikes, trampers and a...
Most copper bullets, including the 110 CX and the Barnes, are designed to go fast. Both bullets are ideal in a Blackout but with an MV of around 2000fps.
For subs, I would be running something in...
Need to be a paper to start with to do that.
Bore sight it first, like any other scope, or start at 25m and then go further.
The info on the blocks can be good in places, but depends on how much control and hunting occurs too. The Kaikoura/Malborough and Central Otago blocks generally have good numbers.
Some other info...
I'm getting 2700 with 41gr of 2209 from a 18" tikka with 143gr ELD-X. This is 0.5gr less than the ADI book max.
So getting what you want shouldn't be an issue
Its easy-going at the moment. Go straight over the river toward Lillybank and hang a right just before the airstrip.
What are you charging for these?
Ive used Phoneskope for years, but this year changed to MagView. Is really simple, fast to set up and use, plus don't need a phone specific case.
I do some guiding for an Outfitter in the central south island. It's pretty common for US clients to take meat back with them, this is no trouble at all. Just freeze it here and pack into a cooler...
Some places used to hire firearms, for example , Gunworks in Canterbury. However, I'm not aware of any at the moment, but I haven't checked either.

Shot a heap of deer with a 260rem with 129gn ABLR. No trouble at all.
Inside most hunting distances, the increased velocity often makes up for the slightly lighter bullets.

Thermal cannot "see through" stuff like people talk about. But can, in the right conditions, give your the ability to see a significant difference in temperature. They will help you in the right...
It's a solution that will only be helpful in early morning etc. Once the sun hits the face, you will struggle to notice them in the brush.

I have a 21" 270WSM. Running 145gr ELD-X at 3150fps. A little spicey, but fine. Shoot very accurately too.
Happy shooting!
