Just out of interest anyone been up through Big Hill in the last few weeks? If so what is the condition of the road? And are were there many deer spotted/shot?

You wont need 4wd to get to Ruahine hut, however you may need it to get to No Mans and will definitely need it to reach the White Hut as the road is very rutted just past No Mans and 300m from White...
