I used Black Maire on this knife I made 20 odd years ago. It is my go to hunting knife and the handle has not shown any sign of deteriorating.
It was interesting to work. I ended up using an angle...
Thanks Pixie Z. Not my work though. This is a bought one.
Yeah. I have seen a few videos now of these being used so was interested to try one.

What's the ring on the top? Looks like an aperture sight?

New filleting knife. Looking forward to giving it a test run. Just need to get out and catch something.
I will replace the handle with some nicer wood at some stage (maybe some plum I have...
I have lost count of the times I have put a knife down and then had to spend a couple of minutes searching for it. Mine now wears a strip of pink flagging tape.
Looks a bit like one I did in Black Maire. viper, is the wood REALLY hard?
Perfect shape for a hunting knife IMO.
Looks like a good collection of wooden "toys for boys".
Wow. Makes my efforts look pretty amateur.
I think it would come out ok, just leave a bigger hole than when it went in :D

I used TianFang compressed bamboo for the handle on this one. It is a bit plain but very dense and should be very durable. Blade is 90mm, bit smaller...
I cold ground it.
No wonder they are so bloody expensive now.
This one, a knock off, I got 20 odd years ago for $7.99. I think the real thing had gone up to about $25 by then and I wasn't going to spend that much.:D...
After seeing ROKTOY's shiny new blade at Pengy's mid winter do I was inspired to make a big hacking type knife. I found an old file and came up with this.

The handle is burnt Rimu...
What is the handle on the right one? Looks fantastic.
Lovely looking bits of timber.
After refurbishing the kitchen knife (post #865) I got motivated to give a hunting knife I made in the late 90's a bit of a polish up.
I made the 115mm blade from an old saw blade that I got from a...
Tahr. That's where VC came in. I used phosphor bronze welding rod to pin it. He drilled through the blade (far to hard for any drill I had) and I bashed it with a big hammer to peen it on. You can...
Just finished a little job of refurbishing an old knife I found at a flat in the 1980s.
I like the blade but the wooden handle was falling apart and the whole thing was looking a bit shabby. I used...
