Nice little Stevens - have heard they can be quite accurate. What modern ammos will action/barrel safely take? :)

Well well... Just looking at possible new magazine supply for a Remington 511 on trademe, and noticed all the other rifle models this Rem mag fits.
...
Great info Muzza - interesting they used the Remmy 510/512/512 actions for the Nylon series. But.. the 511/512s, although production began early in the 30s, weren't phased out until mid 60s so they...
Yes.. I recall same divide in opinions re pre and post 64 Winchester 94 centrefires. Had both of them in 30-30 - an early 60s model, and a later (circa 1990) 94 angle eject model but actually both...
Interesting - I had no idea the Remington Nylon series extended into bolts - model 12, and levers - model 76. Saw very few Nylons in NZ back in the day and what I recall we did see were model 66...
Good to know... I looked at one briefly about 15-20 years ago - an 87A I think. I know they can go full auto quite easily - but so will other semis.
One semi I bought after doing a review around...
Nice Gevarm and Mossie - remember looking at one of those 377s. The early Savage/Stevens semis included what was sometimes called a 'click-clack' action - the bolt remained open until trigger...
That's a nice little Remmy Nylon 66. Remember that model from the 60s but wasn't aware they made them until 1989. Remington made some interesting 22s. Really like their early 510/511/512/341 models...
The team's arsenal.. these 22s proved extremely effective for Canterbury high volume bunny shooting - 1000+ in an evening shoots etc.
Top one is a Marlin biathlon rifle - very heavy but cobber...
Just wanted to revive this older thread for people who like the rimfires. I think Muzza has just bought a couple and will post some info soon.
Any pics, comments on your 22s/WMR/17s - new or old...
Very nice Muzza - surprised the thumb triggers still being made that late (1914) but I know little about them.
Gadgetman and I range testing a little Marlin stainless heavy barrel 22WMR last week....
That's very good shooting too from the Mauser - and the man behind it! A keeper ..
Very nice - what does it shoot like - repeatably?
Yep I agree - often simple sturdy builds and better than many cheap mass production models now.
Here's another earlier Savage Stevens - have looked at these before but not owned one. Savage Stevens offer basic entry level firearms but can be very effective. This is a surprisingly late - 1970?...
I like the old Mossies - very nearly bought a model 640 Chuckster in 22WMR many moons ago, but on arrival to pick it up it was too badly altered to restore. Nice old rifle - had the characteristic...
That's a nice old Stevens - 113 years old. You still see a few of the old Stevens Favorit singles around. Saw one somewhere recently that had been updated with a modern target barrel etc - far from...
Little 9422 an absolute gem - worth a k and more now too.
I wanted the sportco 93 pump few years back but decided against it as gunsmith mate had one and also couldn't get it cycling...
Some beautiful rifles there guys - would definitely like to play with a Unique sometime.
Few years back I sold a brace of Winchester 9422s - one in 22LR and one XTR in 22WMR. Very nicely made...
Be great to see pics of Uniques - esp that semi - and more comments on them.
Yes alot of us used the wee Winchester pumps back in the day - great wee hunters. Surprised really that the pump action...
Very nice little rifles there... the Thompson looks a cute little unit - that really is a pistol grip!! Remmy Viper not so well known here - the model 597 semiauto was, but not a great success for...
It seems absurd to some people but a chopped, polished JW is one of my favourite hunters. Deadly and effective wee units with often surprisingly good barrels - even if off centre. Can make very good...
Have been a rimfire hobbyist for alot of years. Have bought, tested alot of makes/models - and done lots of reviews etc. But there are plenty of interesting rifles of which I know very little. Be...
