Serial number. But also, the internal parts are machined rather than stamped sheet or cast. And the sights are a bit more refined.

.308. I’ve had four montanas, all have been excellent, so I’ve been lucky also. I’ve no doubt that they’ve put out some duds, but the good ones are worth hanging on to.
