Take a photo of it in a completely different e cat config. You have no requirement to keep it in that exact config for any period of time.
Even take a photo of a different gun :P -

How does it stop you from changing anything in any case?
Interestingly enough, I was required to convert my AR's to E-cat and show them in the config that they were going to be in as an E-cat....
