Not perfect and will vary a little for temperature ( air density ) altitude and rifles but this will give you a pretty good starting point and all you need.
You are correct, 9 years of shooting central Otago rabbits with talleys into the tens of thousands has turned range estimates into second nature. Also shooting the same farms has given me landmarks...
I run a 17HMR a lot. I am sighted in ( zero ) at 100mtrs . This range covers 80% or the shots I need to take from 40 - 130 mtrs with basically point and shoot .
Over the 130mtr mark to 190mtrs plus...
I had the BMR steel version, same rifle but steel barrel not the carbon one. I just fed it whatever the farmer had purchased for me. It shot well with everything from the Hornady 17gr ballistic tips...
Had a 3-9x40 on a Ruger 10/22 semi. Thousands and thousands of rounds through it with the semi action cycling / slamming, scope never missed a beat and held zero for years.
Great read. Nice work on the stock , that would have been very satisfying not only to build it but for it to work so well.
Wow one of my knifes and one of my rifles...... I was almost there...
Yeah it does look like they have all but gone, still euro guns out there though, Mares, Patho's etc. I guess just use what your comfortable with and shoot well with. The gear is better now than it's...
Both are ok and will do the job but I wouldn't use either. This is purely a personal opinion but Wettie guns will be assembled using various parts from different suppliers and although there is no...
244574 Danny , there you go, view from my front lawn, bloody horrible.
244534 This mornings effort from Lake Dunstan. Bit slabbly but nice markings.
Released to fight another day.
I read many of his magazine articles, a legend particularly in Aussie shooting circles.
His articles were always well written, informative and thoughtful on whatever subject he was putting pen to...

One of the best stories I was told was by a Kayak fisherman back in the early 90s. He was fishing in the Manukau harbour ( Auckland ) . He was snapper fishing with his burly bag tied to his anchor...
Best price I found was "Hunting and Outdoor supplies" , NZ based company. $290.00
Let us know how it works out once you have used it. Good luck.
I have the exact scope on a CZ 17hmr. It ships with 4-5 changeable turrets that allow for dial up in 22LR, 17Hmr, 22 mag , .223 and a blank turret to do whatever you want with. The turrets don't lock...
CZ 5 or 10 shot mag, costs a little. I changed I don't recall ever having feeding issues again in my JW again.
Had a Vitara 2.7 v6. Lovely car, smooth and peppy but very thirsty. Sold it and got a V6 Camry which was way more economical.
@ Brad S , the rifle is totally bog standard and factory spec. You don't need or want to be altering it. It is a lovely example of a CZ 452 and they have a well deserved reputation as great .22...
Joe_90 , fantastic little read and great photo's . I particularly like the novel use of the bino harness conversion into a snack carrier . Thanks for the post bud.
You doing quick amputations on the side while at work gundoc
Nothing down here, move along and stay up Nth.:)
The little Marlin may not look a lot different to the Rossi but it has way better tolerances, barrel and manufacture.
It will prove to be a more accurate and reliable hunting rifle over the years.
