Dang I think it's in the rifle chamber. I can run a case through and make similar marks. Is this something I need to worry about?
Thanks Pete. Do you think I should chuck them? I've just resized, chamfered and annealed, godammit.
PS I'm guessing these might be form of abrasion - when cases are extracted from the die or the chamber - like the tight fitting contact with the walls has dragged some adhering portions of material...

Hi guys so I've had another go at it. This time I had a bunch of 6 times fired cases. I used the timer on my phone and held each one in the tip of the inner blue portion of the flame...
P38 thanks man that's cool and much appreciated. I will think long and hard about how I look in a blouse and make the appropriate decision at the appropriate time. Pics to follow.
Cheers Pete that thing is awesome! Could I trouble you for the URL of the forum? Not sure which one he's on. Maybe I'll give it a crack. What sort of skill level you reckon? I am not any sort of...
I found this on youtube, which looks to me to be a good explanation of the basic concepts involved - and the process. Looks to be a good little machine too and not a bad price.

Very well put. Maybe I'll start saving for a machine!
Cheers guys - do you reckon these look ok to use? When I tried your crush test @Massive with the pliers, the necks were waaay softer than a twice fired case which hadn't been annealed.
Btw these cases certainly looked clean when I started on them - so that carbon staining around the neck is coloration which appeared as a result of the annealing. Certainly it wasn't as apparent as...

So this is what I got. Hey thanks for all the input guys really appreciate it, and thanks for posting the photos too. That really helps out. I reckon I'll have another go one evening...
Yes and a good option - ironically enough, this whole thing has started because I know a guy who anneals and took some cases out to him to get him to do them - but in talking to him I thought I...
Cheers mate that's a good tip. So it should be done before it's too hot to hold? I might have overcooked these.
Ok so today I bought a little gas torch from Mitre 10. I got some 8 times fired cases, put them in a socket and rotated them slowly in the flame. (saw someone doing that on youtube. It works.) Never...
