Went with the semi after doing a bit of research and discussing with owners of them.
Yes, but if you want to get the best out of it, make sure your rifle is not built on a rinfire action like many Hornets are.
Have a little Walther 22 Hornet that is exceptionally accurate, thought of threading it, 1/2 the powder of the .223. The retailer I spoke with today stated the 17 hmr had a crack to it so maybe...
This one had a std Tikka pad fitted, thing I wasn't keen on was the 3/8 dovetail, was tapped so maybe Weaver type base is made for them, retailer didn't know.
Another one for the knowledgeable, difference in noise 22 Hornet against 17 HMR both suppressed.
Do any of you own a .17 HMR Tikka, looked at one today.
No goats, problem isn't local, 200 km away, will be suppressed for sure, will head north tomorrow and see what's on offer.
Will start with the .22 but want a bit more range when they get a bit more "wised up" plus I need another rifle.
Gee, hasn't taken long, been offered a Tikka, Savage bolt and semi.
charliehorse, I have a suppressed 22 Hornet, 223, 222, these people with the problem have neighbors with guess what, horses. Before the problem became serious they all loved watching the dear little...
Not for the poor bastard whose planted thousands of trees and can't shoot for shit, his wife said the cat can catch them but he can't hit them.
Has he suppressed it As I'm left handed the blow back was a problem with a 22 mag Brno semi, even though I never had a problem with BAR centrefires suppressed with blowback.
Thank you all for your input, had read online about the Savage, thought the grouping was excellent, but have to take more into account when suppressed.
Is there a 17 HMR semi worth buying or stay with a bolt. Have a very large hare problem to sort, centrefire too noisy.
