The sand is good to ride on if you get on the beach on the outgoing tide so it is still wet and firm. There are some spots that are softer than a soft thing when the sand is dry.

Tides even more so when you 4WD down there. Have seen more than a few drowned wagons at Big river.

A fantastic spot well worth visiting. The rockpools hold all sorts of ocean goodies, Some of the biggest Paua I have ever seen found in the pools along the beach.
