Thanks Big Bear, I did call the toolshed in Timaru but they were bloody dear for 2xcordless planers and more batteries.

Hi Big bear, we run all dewalt with no real problems.
Where did you get your kit from that's a good price, apprentice needs to add a couple of tools to his kit.

I use the 90grs in the boys xbolt shot around 15 deer with no problems . Inch group with 43grs of rl17

I use 43gr of RL 17 in Tahrs old xbolt with sierra 90 and 85 gr bullets. 3100 - 3200 off memory

Why not just buy a 300wsm? Xbolt 23inch barrel same 30cal bullet, I use 200gr eldx @2940 they are dead everytime.

Xbolts are bloody brilliant I've got a 300wsm and @ tahrs 243 micro which my 5 year old boy uses.Don't worry @ tahr shes in good hands and has another 20 odd deer to her name.

Never had a problem in my 300wsm, but never hunt in the heat of the day .

2920 is what I run 200 eldx at, you'll struggle to find a better load. Just shot a good red stag on the weekend at 520yrds dead on the spot. Never had a problem with these bullets

I bought the 300wsm for bull thar and red stags but use it for meat hunting as well so I get practice and gets the job done. I find the eldx don't do heaps damage to smaller animals like fallow...

20-600yards , rifle is an xbolt 23 inch barrel. Topped with a vx3 4.5 -14 Boone & Crockett reticle. Check coal tomorrow, been using this load for about 3 year's I'll never change.
