Actually the model 7 isnt really shorter. The rear action bridge is shorter but the magazine box is the same length as the rem short action.

Only 2 lengths, short and long. For the 300 rum you will need to get a gunsmith to lengthen the action box, if you want to sit the projectiles right out. with my 7RUM I left the magbox the std length...
