Just out of curiosity is a 1/8 243 close or as good as a 6mmcreed?

Performance wise pretty close if u reload.
243 wont have any heavy high BC loads available on the shelf.
6cm has factory ammo available but probably have to order it from Delta Mike etc.
If reloading
6cm has better shoulder angles and probably be easier on the throat. Brass usually better quality but more expensive.
I would lean towards 6cm unless u have good supply of good 243 brass already
Also im guessing just like the 260 vs 6.5cm. That the modern spec seems to make the CM less fussy.
had one 260 was reasonably fussy. another shoots well with alot. But from my experience CM just about any factory ammo shoots under Moa.
Not sure if others have found that
The Creed case design will be more efficient (less powder, for same performance) and will require less brass trimming.
All else being equal the Creed is the was to go but if you already have a 243, or reload for it, etc, then no reason the change.
Might just be my rifle but I have had several lightweight 243s (Forbes, Kimber etc) and whilst they were nice to shoot my 6cm (Howa Superlite) blows me away with how gentle it is to shoot despite shooting heavier projectiles than I ever shot in a 243.

A mate has just bought a Tikka in .243 with the ⅛ twist barrel. I am helping sort out loads for it. I am also interested on how it well it goes, or otherwise. I guess we will find out very soon, going to run some test loads next week.

I might have the cat by the tail end here, but....if the 6mm creed & 243 are both shooting 6mm projectiles with the same twist rate & barrel length, then performance will be identical for projectiles up to 103 to 105 grain, right?
Been thinking about a sako 90 in 243 herd today how well the 6creed goes with the 108 projectiles

The other thing to consider aside from performance is .243 is a longer case. To fit a 108 pull in a 243 case makes things pretty long. It’s not a concern for tikka users but on a true short action you have to seat bullets pretty deep into a 243 to fit into the mag.
I have a 1:8 T3 243. Very happy with the way it shoots the 108 ELD-Ms.

Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
That 108gr looks sweet at mag length and shoots like a tikka too
I hand load my 1/8 243.
108 gr elm at 2.8 or 2.84" in an AI short mag (about 72mm). Only just fits.
SAAMI max OAL is aprox 68.8mm.
If you can load long then you don't lose powder capacity so in theory the 243 has a little more powder capacity and a touch more velocity.
definitely with light and mid range bullets the 243 is faster.
Yes in theory the 6mm CM sharper shoulder will give longer brass life but most 243 shooters get acceptable brass life and there is plenty of high quality Lapua or other brass around.
So to me the 6mm CM is an unnecessary extra to the 6mm world. (wait for flames !!! )
