10 Shot Load Development - some field results

Took my 6.5 Creedmoor to a mates farm to try out the load I settled on - 147gr ELD M, seated 2.8", once fired Lapua brass, CCI 450 and 40.8gr 2209.

I didn't get a chance to chrony this load again so I went off of the velocity I got in the 10 shot test, which was 2520fps.

I plugged everything into Strelok and we went for a hunt. Stalked to within 200m of a couple of Fallow Hinds, put .7 mils into the scope and shot one in the neck.

After recovering it, we set up a 14" plate and backed off to 700m. The wind was challenging and it took two rounds observing the splash in the papa to get on. I held .5 mil into the wind and put a 5 shot group onto the left edge of the plate. The velocity must be right because my elevation was more or less bang on. The middle strike is when I put a round on it at 350m.

Took it back out today and it was still striking left, wind was about the same. I dialled .6 mil into the scope this time and shot a nice group of about 4-5 inches in the center of the plate.

I leant the rifle to my mate who was going for a hunt on another block as I had to head home. He neck shot this red at 400m with it.

Overall I'm happy with how this load development method worked out. Gave me a useful load with minimal effort.

Nice. Did you do any groupings to confirm the velocity node also grouped or did you just run with it?

I went out on a limb and just ran it. Didn't have time to muck around before the trip.
