    100g hornady in .243

Anyone got good load for this bullet using 2206h in 17in barrel suppressed Winchester model 70 ,bush hunting Sika and reds,I have a heap of them but getting low on my go to 85g sierras. Powder is scarce and expensive along with primers these days so looking to get the job done with minimal fuss, not used the 100g before, hoping the twist rate is ok in the old Winchester. Thanks

ADI say to start at 31gr and work up to a max of 33gr with that powder and a 100gr soft point, for a max of 2818fps from a 24" barrel: Data – Rifle – ADI World Class Powders and Ammunition.

You'd be much better off with something slower.

I normally use AR2209 in the 243, but know for sure this projectile kills well.

Eh, do a ladder test. 10-15 rounds worth of compnents and you'"l have a load good to go.

17 is a pretty short barrel to get all of that powder burned, I would say you're going to gain some drop!
I've never loaded 243 but it looks like a short powder column necked a calbre and a half down. So if the chance presents itself maybe pick up some slower powder. RL19 and 4831 come up in my manuals, but I have a suspicion RL22 could do even nicer.

chuck middle range load in with your 100s and put the 87s under it in magazine..you will be using the 100s at under 100 yards so accuracy isnt going to be as paramount. the few remaining 87s take care of the longer shots.
I dont recal what charge I used but did load 100grn round noses years back with 2206h and they worked fine.

Have loaded up some @32 and some @33g,2.65col,will see how they go later in the week, loaded some at 31g a while ago but the 85g pills were way better so shelved the 100g pills till now.

They are the interlock bullets as well if that makes any difference?

2206h is probably a bit faster than ideal but at bush hunting ranges I am sure a basic load with the 100gn will give all the accuracy and velocity you will need.
ADI say 33gns of 2206h give a presure of 50,100 CUP. That is their max load stated but the pressure doesn't seem that high.
