Gidday, I'm thinking I might try some 147 in the trusty tikka.
I'm running 44.8 of 2209 with the 143eldx.
Any body running the 147eldm in the tikka 6.5x55 with 2209 or similar?
Cheers Andy

Im running the Swede improved - get very good accuracy and speed with RL23 with the 147's - Criterion barrel.
"Improved Swede" . Oh man; where does that take you?
I wouldn’t bother. Your load is spot on for the 6.5x55. The 147 grain was intended for 6.5x?? (Something else) from memory as the x55 case doesn’t have enough capacity to get full potential from the heavier pill. That said, 6.5x55 handles 160 rn ok, but not like the accuracy over distance the eldx143’s give.
Looking as an option if I run short of the 143.
I also have a 260 tikka turning up and thinking I will run the 147 in that as well.
I have some spare long 5 shot mags and can get another long action bolt stop to make it work.
There were no 143 in steves shipment but a few 147s.

Am sure @25/08IMP ran 147s in a 260 of his and they were lethal. I reckon they would go epic in a 260, 6.5x55 personally.
I have used them in the past in my 6.5x55 with Re26 powder, accuracy and velocity were good but was not overly happy with terminal performance.
I’m thinking back to a thread I read somewhere; another site. The contributor there reckoned the 147 could not be fully potentialised for reason mentioned in my original comment. Thinking back again, he suggested the 147 was more suited to the 6.5x284. I discarded the reference as I’m happy with the 143 eld-x and 139 Lapua Scenar pills and use them exclusively. Give the 147’s a go if so inclined.
All good. As stated, I love my 143’s and 139’s.

I played around with a GRT and, a stability calculator. It looks like the 147gr could work quite well depending on the twist and how fast your rifle likes to push them. In the end I decided to play it safe with the 140gr. I'm curious to see how this works out.
Hi Andy,
The 147 were the first pills I tried in my 6.5x55 tikka.
On top of my head, in a tikka long mag , fully seated out they were coming close to the rifling . Which was really good .
On top of my head i think I was putting up to 51 gr of ar2213sc with no pressure sign. But I think the accurate load was around 50 gr.
I think the 147gr is a great pill for the 6.5x55 into a tikka.
I just ran out of them and I am now rolling with lapua till the hornadys get back on the shelf.
Just loaded up some 147 with 44.6 of2209 behind them at 80.5aol.
This afternoons job to test after I get the hot wire pumping for the cattle

I'm using around 45 gr of 2209 with the 147s in my 260 for 2740fps. 19 inch barrel. They work exceptionally well.
Lapua and fed210m
My Sako appears to have the usual Sako/Tikka loose chamber so it needs more powder to get the same speed c.f. a tighter chamber
45gn of 2209 is sketchy man. Personally i would never do that. Got pressure at 44 and backed off. I switched to 2213, put in 45.8gn and the 147s. Magic. Acheived more velocity than with the 143elds (same charge compared).
Yeah work up in your own rifle.
