    168gr eld-m superformance .308 accuracy

Hi. Has anyone tried these and what kind of accuracy were you getting? Living down south now the the barnes isn't cutting it past 300 so looking to change up for a better all rounder. They seem to be smoking along at 2840.

    Cheers.

I had excellent performance from MV 2680 out to 650 yards. 168 eldm was 0.3moa at 100 in a kimber

Mate shoots them at 2600 from his 308. Shot a sika the other day at 550 and has shot sika, tahr and chamois out to 570 too. They work alot better up close at slower speeds but if you are shooting at distance I think you will struggle to find a better performing bullet

What's your barrel length? I was thinking I'd be getting around that out of my 18" tube, I'd say that would be the perfect speed for up close and far out, still get 1000 ft-lbs out to 700 yards. Bc is decent too.

I think people are missing he's talking about the factory ammo. I used them and had great luck with them. I still have quite a few left even after selling my 308. I used nearly 300 of the suckers.

Yeah good to know the performance though too but yeah anyone with factory superformance experience would be good to know as they are a hot load! I've read they go quicker on the box in some rifles in 24". Standard non superformance would be too slow in 18"

Haven’t tried the 168gr superformance but FWIW the 150 SST version was average in my rifle (about 1.5moa) whereas the precision hunter was exceptional (0.5moa). But the experiences of other shooters is irrelevant, you’ll need to try it for yourself. It looks like a kick arse load if your rifle likes it, but maybe a bit too explosive at close range

All Hornady stuff I've tried my rifle has liked, the most accurate was the 165gr sst. Yeah I've ordered some in, taking awhile to get down here. At the moderate speed from out of an 18" there shouldn't be too many issues at close range, not on reds anyway.

I reload the 168s, work really well but be careful to avoid the main shoulder bone as they are really soft buggers. Mine are going 2520 out of a 16" barrel but work well out to over 500 even at that velocity.
Shot a couple of hundred deer or so with them.

So these are more or less similar terminal performance wise to the A max, just with a higher BC?

Yes I believe that is correct. I think they’re very good.

So I used the Superformance match. They shot great from my 16 inch bergara I was getting 2620 or 2720 I believe. I lost my old data so will need to check back through the labradar. It was quite a bit faster than anything I could load myself. It preformed great took a few animals between 90 and 550 yards. And a lot more targets.
