    2209/H4350 in 7mm rem mag?

just wondering if any one uses it in a 7mmRM?
Ive tried it today over a crony just to an average speed of 2980 for 59 grains under a 175smk, where as im only getting 3060 for 65grains of RE22 which im being told is getting hard to get.
I know its not an completly optimum powder, but Im just wondering if its worth continuing load development etc ?
plus im not trying to hotrod it that much

Too fast a powder, try 2217 or 2225 with the 175.

Most 7mm Rem Mags when using the heavy for calibre bullets with a 24" or longer barrel respond really well to around 72gns ADI 2217, 2225 is suited to 26" and longer, 2209 is quite good for 140gn or less in projectile weight, but is particularly well suited to the likes of the 120TTSX,70gns 2209 should give 3450+(ish) in a 24" barrel. This a generalisation of course, your rifle may be different.

I get 3030 average for 180 VLD Berger over 73gns 2217, 24" barrel, I would expect pressures at the very high end using a fast (comparatively) powder with heavy bullets.

Practically, achieving 3k+ with a 175 SMK in a standard 7mm Rem Mag, you are already about as fast as is sensible, if you really need to go faster, you better go talk to Greg Duley and get him to build you one of his 7mm specials like the 7mm Fatso

Great length to get the most velocity from a 7mm Mag, Gunworks Canterbury do ADI sample packs of all the ADI powders, might be worth trying 2225 in your barrel.

Hi, I have 2 7mm Rem Mag that I reload for, they are bothe Tikka's but one hunting and other varmint HB. I use 2217 at 69.5gn behind the Amax and SST 162gn and I get 2960f/s average. My accuracy at 100mt is about 1/2 - 3/4". But I am not a "good" shooter yet. A friend did shot few of my rounds thru his sako 75 finnlight and got pretty much one hole. I hope it help's.

    Definitely give 2225 a go in a 28" barrel.

I dont know mate?? Are you sure its safe for others to be allowed to use 2225?? Or is it just a powder that you and a few other tightly controlled individuals should be allowed to use?

    You can't be too careful......

    Hey,

Reviving an old thread I know, just had some queries on reloading for the 7mm RM (Sauer 101, 24in Barrel) as per this thread.

I am about to start reloading for this rifle, using once-fired Remington brass. The projectiles I am using are Hornady 120gr SP (no longer made). I have AR2209 ready to go.

I am curious if anyone has any loads for lighter bullets using this powder. The ADI data for all 7mm loads seems a lot lower then what most people are using for 2209 or H4350. I will of course be starting at the middle of the ADI start/max, and working up, just wondering what loads people are running.

I will also be loading 139gr SST using 2209, doing the 120gr first to get some practice withe the rifle.

Also curious if anyone has actual chrony data for factory loads in this calibre? Seems like they are listing them rather fast....

    Thanks, Russel.

Try this data as a start. sierra-reloading-data
Im still running 2209 with 175smks and having great results, slow yes but accuracy over speed any day.
the sierra data is pretty close for the projectile weights/speed etc in my experiance YMMV
