My guess, from observation of shop shelves, is a big majority of projectiles sold here originate in the USA. And it will be interesting to see how prices become affected by US tariffs. But, the US is not the sole manufacturer / supplier. There are a number of European ( eg Norma ) firms that I'm sure would welcome more market opportunities and these days a few Australian firms are in the game too, especially with monometal bullets. And Woodleigh also is slowly getting back on their feet with bonded lead core bullets. I don't know how the economics of any of the options compare. The USA market size offers scale, variety and supply economics that perhaps cannot be easily matched by any alternatives. I have often wished our domestic market would support a couple of good bullet makers ( fortunately we have at least one ) and maybe a time is approaching when setting up a new venture makes sense. Fingers crossed !
Even if you get more bullet makers in New Zealand the only place I can see to buy jackets is the USA and the lead time on ordering till delivery can be over a year.
