Will all depend on brass neck thickness from make to make. I was using 243,244,245 from RP,LC and Lapua brass.

I watched a youtube video which said messure a loaded round around the neck and deduct a thou.

Also as you say messure brass. I just have different factory empties at the moment.

If someone could give me some different bushings for the different brass types then I can see what brass I can get my hands on then get the correct bushing.

    Cheers Guys

so.......IF i AM reading that correctly.....if you want to go down route of fancy pants neck tension, you will need all your necks the same,so you will need to be neck turning..... I just so happen to have the equipment to do that..BUT as I said earlier via txt.....wasting your time unless you going to be benchrest shooting paper...real world you only need some normal dies and just get stuck into it and make some bombs. if this bush hobbit can poke half dozen mixed loads into under an inch....my reloads cant be too bad bud....

Take your expander out and size. You will get your required tension. Ideally want annealed brass.2C.

Out of curiosity I pulled my various 223 ammo out of the safe and these are the measurements of the loaded ammo,

    ADI Factory Load .247"
    Norma Factory Load .247"
    Norma Reload .247"
Lapua Reload (3 different lot numbers) .250".

For the Norma I use a .245" bushing in my Redding Comp Neck Dies and the Lapua I use a .248" bushing.

Thanks for that, I read where anything between 1-3 thou was acceptable so have a 246 and 248, the 247 was sold out.

    Thanks for the post

You should use a micrometer, not calipers as calipers do not have the required resolution.

The reason for using the make of bullet you plan to use is because bullets vary in diameter, and you should only use the make of brass you are going to use and different makes vary in thickness.

I usually start with a bushing .002" or .003" less than the measured diameter.

Redding have an explanation here https://www.redding-reloading.com/te...hing-selection
Thank you for this info, I appreciate it
