Either thinking berger vld 130s or 135 hunter classics. Anywhere from 5-500m. Thoughts?

From what I can see online OAL is about 3.4 inches for the LA mag
Eldm good for killing? Thought it was a target round? It is Wildmans 260 I have bought which with a 140 Eldm comes out at 2775 I think so pretty impressed for that speed from a bigger pill out of an 18 inch barrel.
Mathias I am actually unsure on mag length but know it is a LA mag in a tikka so would think over 3 inches
That rifle likes the 140 SST and really likes the 140 Hornady Interlock sp, the Interlock is not the cool sexy bullet your mates are using, but fuck it kills stuff dead. The Amax/ELD, SST and interlock hold nearly the same poi out to 200yds so you could dual load for it.
Not sure of the length of my mod 7 but the 130 vlds are mean. Using 2209
Fair bit shorter I think @Gibo
Was going to ask you as I saw an old thread of you decking a red at 190m with a 130vld and there was a great wound. How do you find them up close on smaller bodied animal like sika? Imagine big reds up close would help that pill open up
Ah rats
Will be mostly bush chasing reds, sika and fallow so majority under 50m but I want the ability to be able to sack a deer on a slip or clearing at 400-500m if needed(had considered the 143gr eldx but again unsure how it will go on animals up close).. Am running a vx3 3.5-10 cds on top
You shouldn't have any problems with the ELD X up close, I shot a Sambar Stag at about 25 yards in the neck with the 178 ELD X out of the 300 Win Mag at over 3000 fps and recovered it on the opposite side after going through heavy hide , muscle and bone, still weighted 91 grains and was intact, don't recover a lot mostly pass throughs.
@Gibo maybe you need to dish up that VLD lung surgery shot of yours again
I think most bullets will be destructive up close but you will need reliability out further too. ELD-X performance postings on here look to be doing that.
