    .270 , 145 gr eldx load needed

    Hi,
has anyone been running the 145 eldx in .270 ?
I have 2209 , and N160 , and i am aware there is a load in there somewhere . I want to short cut a bit to a known good load . So anyone got one ? looking for 2900 ft/sec .
    cheers
    les

@dannyb @Mooseman ? Plenty have done it. Personally I would use high end 150grn data for your given powder and try it.will be safe and should be in ballpark area.

I have only used 2217 and 2213sc in 270win dunno if you'd see that velocity with the powders the op mentioned as I've never used them.
Should have my 270 back next week, still agonizing about what powder and pill combo I'm gonna use, the eldx is tried and tested and found to be brilliant, but I could just as easily use 130gn btsp and have very effective and cheap ammo with less recoil (thinking bout my kids, I'm not recoil sensitive).

It would still be "a load", possibly quite a good one, whether it's doing 2800, 2900, or 3000ft/sec.

Loads aren't these tiny little mystical things hidden among a giant pool of useless crap, that you have to search for extensively and nail exactly.

Cross reference a couple of sources of data and pick a charge weight that you think will give you the speed you want. Go test it. Then tweak it if you need to for any reason.

ADI 2217 works great in the .270 with the 140g + Projectiles, very temp insensitive too.

2213sc been giving the best results in the 270 I reloaded for with the 145 eldx. Will get you 2900+from a 22in barrel

I'm running 2217 behind ELD 145s and Speer 150 BTSP, both go 10 shots into comfortably under MOA. My load is 64.3 for 2975 from 22.5" s of barrel but if you go straight to that you're a bloody mug, start at 57 or so and work up. If you shoot a ladder of 0.5 grain increments (one round of each) measuring velocity as you go you'll learn a lot about your rifle. If a rifle "likes" the projectile most times the ladder group will be quite small, if it's larger than 1.5 MOA you know right there to change projectiles.

Hodgdon Superperformance powder is what I use with the 145 eldx, I used to use N160 years ago but with 130grn and don't have that data now

This was years ago in a browning A-Bolt and 130 Nosler BTips at around 3050fps.
We used to buy N160 for $112 per 1 or maybe 2Kg from Reloaders. It was a great powder I also used it in 25-06

You'll get 2900 with 2209 but it'll be a near or over max charge depending on barrel length. 2213sc is much better if you can get some.
