    270 projectiles

What do folks use for high bc long range pills for 270 cal ? Hornady offering is anemic, seems they’ve chosen to ignore the good ol 270 ?
I see Berger have a 170gn Elite Hunter. What else is out there ?

You'll need a 9 twist or faster to shoot the 170s. 150 LRAB have always been good for me, or the 145 eld

Using 150gn speer btsp currently they hold enough velocity out to 630yards for the projectile to work out of my 20" barrel.

I've got some Berger 130g classic hunter you can have for cheap. Brought them off here to try and they've sat on the shelf as I went for monos and bonded instead

Nothing anemic about the 145gr eldx or 150lrab performance. As far as the heavies, really only have the 165gr lrab and 170 EOL Berger.

It’s the Hornady offering in 270 that’s anemic, not the specific pill. Nothing added in 160 class & no ELDMs, etc.

The 150 NBT and hornady 140 SPBT are useful pills too.

Yes but how far do you intend on pushing it, I run the 145 out to 500m and it's very effective. I would however be all over an eldm if they brought one out.

I’m toying with the idea of a possible wildcat in 270, just ‘cos you can. A 270-6.5PRC or SAUM. Not burning as much powder as a WSM but short action & plenty of legs that can built on a light weight platform. Being a big fan of 7mms the 270 wildcat idea appeals more than 6.5s. How far? Self imposed limit probably 600 (in ideal conditions), but the potential would or should be well past that.
