partitions cost more but they do what J.N. intended when he designed them...kill stuff deader than dead. if you already have a good sleak longrange load that is working for you.....why not just load up a bog std soft point or a partition for spook n shoot type hunting...it takes a couple of seconds to slip in sleak load if n when oppotunity arrises. the 130grn sst and the 130grn balistic tip both have bad reputation for OCCASIONALLY opening up too fast up close /at speed and loosing big animal...Ive shot quite a number of hinds with BTs and as long as I DID hit shoulder bones they went down fast...chest shot deer were dead on feet but didnt know it.
in 30 years of using the calibre only once has load let me down,and it was entirely my fault....wondered what a 110grn hp varmit load would be like on small fallow,,,and found out,,,,useless on shoulder shot,blew pudding bowl sized shallow crater,massive shock but no penertration,wouldve worked on neck,but not shoulder...mate did same on red hind and lost it.....use a good or heavy load please.....please learn from others mishaps and dont risk loosing that once in lifetime stag.
