    280 Ackley

    Hi Everyone ,
    I am a new member here from England.
    I plan to get a 280 Ackley built with a 26 inch tube , i plan to run the 162 A-maxs in it!!
    Can i ask those that own one for your load data please??

    Hi guys ,
    I shall be using Nosler 280 Ackley brass and powders i can get hold of are Reloader / Viht / Hodgdon / not heard of ADI beofre though!!

    Research the difference between the SAAMI .280AI and the original .280 Ackley dimensions to avoid potential case issues from mixing the two. RE-22 would be my pick, from 58gr starting on up. Should get 3000fps for 60kPSI peak pressure with that length of barrel and 62gr RE-22. Views on primer type required are split; try both and then decide. Kreiger emailed me the other day with the following "....We have seen more problems (accuracy, copper fouling, rapid throat erosion, etc.) with this cartridge than any other we have tracked over the years. So much so that we dropped this chambering from our line up several years ago...." My translation of this is you need the mental fortitude to resist loading to replicate 7mmRM velocities then you'll probably be OK....can't manage it myself though and clearly very few can....
