Have a light bolt lift but seems to be maybe no primary extraction?
Need to hit the bolt back to extract a case.
When I colour a case in with a vivid it shows clear even run marks near the base of the case
All cases are brand new Norma that have been full length sized in redding dies.
Ideas??
What action? Is it a factory 280ai or a recut chamber?

A small base body die might help. Iv got one here you can try if needed. This hard extraction is after firing ? what load/ velocity ? and have you tried the brass in the chamber before fireing it?

It's hard with an empty freshly sized brand new case (before firing or seating projectile)
I'm leaning towards primary extraction after watching some videos....
Yes it could be, Is there a click at the top of the bolt lift? have you tried a new case straight out of the packet? or some factory 280 rem ammunition?

Had a similar problem with an old Omark action.
Had the primary extraction ramp on the receiver rebuilt (bolt handle wasn't touching the angled face until almost at the top of the bolt swing).
Now the bolt handle hits the primary extraction ramp as soon as it's moved from full battery into opening the bolt and starts extracting the case.
Something to check on mate.

Yes thats what I was leading to. A little more testing/measuring would help. The chamber die relationship seems to be off, could be a chamber at the tight end of the spec and a die on the loose side or one or the other completely out of spec.Quote:
