    Was a thread here very recently but I figured the details were very conservative indeed. I’d suggest looking around 57 for a base and work upwards from there looking for accuracy.
    I’d also suggest 60 grains of R26 is getting warmish so keep that in mind.

    Hi hopefully this works, it is the work RICHARD FRAILEY did on 284 load development. Very interesting and detailed, good info on primers and powder position, temperature impact etc. Cheers 7mm

    In the 284 ive only run 180gr eldms with RE26 thus far. It seems to go pretty good thou, Velocity is good at 2850 fps from a 22" barrel. Thats with 57gr of RE26. This rifle has a long throat, and bullet is seated right out in the neck.

    Just running it thru Quickload with a 162 eldm seated at a coal of 3.100", 59.5gr of RE26 gives 3% compressed load, just shy of max pressure, and a velocity of 2975 fps from a 22" barrel.

    If you happen to have any IMR 7828 ssc lying about, it goes really well with 162's in the 284 as well. Its a damn good powder

    Pretty good. But I still reckon buzz’s 260 carbonlight that he sold me is better. 147 eld m at 2715 is pretty handy. Will sell it back to him for what he sold to me but if he wants to sell again I get it for half price! What you reckon Buzz?

    I have been playing with RL16, RL26 and VV N160 under 160TMK's. The N160 gave the best accuracy over a range of loads but all the powders were acceptable for a hunting rifle. I hope to punch a few more out and see how things work for a mix of best accuracy vs speed. I'm hoping to find something at 2800+fps and 0.5".
    The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

    Sorry. Just saw your post. Sure thing I'm always keen to see what's working. I've gone to VV N160 as a good start. It's awesome food accuracy across any load and has the best ES of them all. It's no slouch but isn't as fast as either RL16 or RL26.

    Just to close the loop on this, 59grs of RL26, average speed of 3029ft/s, SD of 2 over 7 rounds. 160gr TMK. 25.5 inch barrel.
    Accurate and happy.
    Thank you to all!

    @Gerardo

    Wow that's impressive.

    Not that I dont like 7mm mag. But man that is one hell of a load performance wise for the amount of powder burnt.
