284Win load data
Hey team. The 284Win is getting a pretty healthy following now and I too have jumped on the band wagon and am on the hunt for ideas for reloading.
I have had a Shillen 1:9 @20" screwed onto my old 7-08 Blaser by Tracey Short at DED. I'm very happy with the job they did and would recommend him to anyone looking at options with a R93 barrel change.
I'm now looking at what to chuck out the end of it. I was thinking either the 150 or 162 ELD-X would be a versatile pill to use or maybe the Sierra 165 Gamechanger. I have also had repeated success with the NBT so a 150 may also be a good choice?
Powder wise RL17 and RL16 are regular choices for speed freaks but I'm on the fence with Reloader powders for both availability, price and barrel life. I'm an ADI fan so was leaning to AR2213SC? H414 (Win760?) & Win780 also get a mention plus I have a decent supply of N160.
Primers? I'm picking LR primers are the go? Maybe Magnums with ball powders? I've CCI BR2 & Fed210 Match.
I've bought a bag of Peterson brass (because I've not tried it more than anything) and just can't be arsed with necking up Lapua 6.5 or fucking around with neck donuts.
I don't know the neck diameter the chamber was cut but it was no-turn & I'm taking his word it won't be stupid oversize. I can pretty much get any mag size I care for as the Blaser magazine is very easy to lengthen.
Open to ideas and suggestions
Cheers
James

The bolts on the wrong side?
2213 is too slow, if you want to use ADI powders then 2209 is your best bet. But RL17 or Superformance will get you another 100 fps from my experience with 284s

Watching this one with interest. I think 160TMK's are quite popular so curious to see what kind of speeds folks are getting from 18-22" tubes.

I've found H414 and IMR 7828SSC both work well in my my 284s with 162s.
I've recently started using RE26 with 180 eldms in my 22 inch 284 with awesome performance.

162 ELD-X, 58 grains 2213c, necked up 6.5-284 Lapua brass in mine. That gives me 2740 fps from a T3 factory length barrel, which I could speed up, but it’s very accurate and consistent at that. As others say, 2213sc is slow and 2209 or RE17 would increase velocity.
I have some RE26 on hand and might give that a go at some point too.

I am new as well, and have been trying a few different powders. RE17 is very fast, 150 ELDX at 3150 from 20” barrel but has a wide spread of velocity and was reasonably accurate. I tried VV N550 and it is giving me excellent accuracy at 3000 with 150 eldx and likes the hornady 154 SP even more. Have loaded up some Speer 160 as they are a flat based projectile which should make the most of the twist rate in my CZ. VV N160 is also performing well, just a little slower but with good accuracy in my CZ. I have run out of Nosler bts 150 but they are a great game projectile if you don’t push them too fast. The fun in getting a good is very satisfying Cheers 7 mm

I found a tube of Reloader16 at my local so will give that a shot as well as the N160

I've got a 25 inch barrel, running 160gr TMKs at 2950 ft/S. Using RL17. Rifle loves it. Go AR2209 if you are using ADI.

22 inch tikka barrel...162 eldm...52 grains 2209...2780...conservative load
-
19" tikka 53.5gr 2209 150gr sierra gameking @ 2770. Well under an inch. Conservative load but lethal as fuck.
49gr 2208 with 145gr speer hcsp 2800~. Accurate enough to be smacking near enough the same spot at 300. Should never have changed away from this load haha

I get good speed out of the 162 eldm with h414. 2750 out of a 18.5 barrel 42.7 gr Norma brass. Is a bit temp sensitive though. Gunna have a play with rl16 and. The 150 eldx. The 162 eldm is an absolute hammer, been a fantastic performer for me up close out to close to 600m

Currently running the 162 ELD-M at 2600 fps from a 17” barrel using 53gr 2209 in Winchester 284 brass. Not the fastest but it works good and hammers sika!
