Thread: 284win and RL17 load info

Got a new 284win project coming along and thinking about trying RL17 to get some extra velocity .... have a couple of bottles of this pixie dust squirreled away.
I used RL17 in a "long" (500yd) range load for my 7mm08 & got about 100fps gain over 2208.

So looking for any advice and expereince of others for 284 loads, running 160 TMK's or 162 AMAX's.
My go to powder for 284 at the moment is 2209 or Superformance.

My load was 54 grains of rl17. For 2950fps

2208 too fast for 284, and comparable to R15. You need to compare 2209 with R17.

I can get 3000 with the 162's with 2209 with no signs of pressure (24") but accurate load is around 2800 so not much point trying for more speed unless I can get next node which is probably around 3100 so not realistic for 284 with any powder.
