Thread: 300wsm 168gr ELDM

Gidday,

About to start helping mate with load for 20” Tikka 300wsm.

Was going to use 178 ELDX but lack of supply has buggered that. Is anyone shooting the 168 ELD M? Looks like I can get a box or two. Going to use 2209 as supply is reasonably ok.


Any advice/knowledge appreciated.

I would give you my secret recipe but the pills I use are rocking horse shit to obtain.
Rl 17 is the go to powder

I have heard rl17 will get more velocity but I run a 18 inch 300wsm tikka and I'm using 65gr 2209 and getting 2840fps with the 168 amax not the eldm . Which I'm happy with. Everything it shoots falls over out to 330 is as far I have shot with it . Could get more speed from rl17 I hear possibly up to 100 more fps. But I don't really care. It shoots good enough for me.

Yea I run 17 but supply bit crap.

order some 175gr Targex mate, they locally made and available i plan to switch my 308 to them since HBC has gone out of business. you can get them from @TARGEX

Can’t find any Danny. But can find the 168s.

Last I checked reloaders and gunworks had 178gn eldm's in stock bugger 180gn norma bondstrike would be worth a crack or any of the 180 ish gn tipped offerings for that matter.
Guess I will wait till next shipment to top up my supply

They go pretty good in lighter weights, not withstanding eldm's are pretty awesome

@dannyb how healthy is that supply? Got a spare box?

I'll get back to you, could possibly loan you a box, as long as you replace it when next shipment comes in, I am keeping the rifle that I use them in so need to see what I've got left before committing.
