Thread: 338 30" barrel powder

We'll I've almost run out of 2225/retumbo for 338 lapua so time to try things out of the ordinary.

I've got a few boxes of 300gn elite hunters left so I've ordered 4kg AR2218 to try out since with the 30" tru flite barrel.
ADI don't list any load data so anyone here loaded 2218/H50bmg into something similar?

Well testing is complete. hit 98g of 2218, couldnt get a 300gn berger over 2550fps.

super compressed even with a dropper tube, so thats the standard 338LM out.

Would 2217 be worth a shot? Im not too familiar with the 338s sorry. Or imr 8133 possibly?

havent tried any 2217, the 2225 gets them going at ~2850fps. once the 2225 runs out it'll be to vithavouri

No data to pass on though as I opted for 2225 as well.

Looks like I bought some 2213SC as well, never tried it though as it’s unopened.

In my 338 Lapua Improved, 30" Trueflite barrel 107.5grs 300gr berger = 2950 or there abouts. Not sure about standard Lapua loads but i seem to remember hearing of people using it in smaller cases like the 7mm rem mag.

In my 300 Rum 2225 and 2217 gave similar velocities so they may be ok in your 338 L probably worth a try with the current supply shortages of 2225.
