that is not a carbine VC .... it's a bloody cannon
The cases I use are turned on a lathe.
Try Reloading supplies for rifles, handguns and shotguns might be able to help
I have just acquired 7 rounds for mine but working on a source, I'll keep you informed. I might be able to get a mould for the projectile as well.
I'm looking for some 8 x 58 r brass and/ or dies
He can load with out dies probably, just means he has to be careful handling the ammo. The dies will require a big press. Lees make them new at a good price. I'll get some info on how I load together for him. Did he buy the one on trademe? Need to use pure lead. I get mine from scrappy.
Probably off trade me, I haven't seen the auction or rifle. Just got a tx last night asking about ammo.

A mate loads one I think, I'll check up later, I think he said he gets brass from overseas.
Also there is an auction in Wellington in two weeks, might have some stuff in it....you can do postal bids.
I'll get info on that.
Steven is right those auctions can be a good source or join them, or a black powder club.He needs some FFG powder as well.
Bertram Australia, make the snider brass, if hes interested I may go half in some, its expensive
VC looks like Gunworks have some dies.
Magnum Imports has pills etc.
20 gauge shells in a Snider? in Snider-Enfield Forum Forum
20gauge brass shotgun cartridges sized down seems one option.
I will sift threw all this info and catch up with him next week to see where he wants to go from here.

There is some SPANZ made brass floating about , it is turned from a bar and really dosent expand so dies are not necessary , just punches for removing and replacing the primer , I dont have any left but it turns up from time to time at gunshows and the Wellington auction . There are different models of Snider about and the second one with the locking breach is preferable if you are going to shoot it .
He has gunworks building him some loaded ammo for a start.

Its 24 gauge you need and there is Magtech brass available (Gunworks). However it has to be cut to length, sized and annealed. akaroa1 on here can do that all for you. You can also get Bertram brass in Aus, made as snider brass, but most resellers won't ship brass to NZ. There is also a guy in the US (email only xringservices@yahoo.com) who can supply Magtech as well. if you are lucky it SPANZ brass comes up in auctions once in a while.
I you are reloading .577 or thereabouts you need the sizing dies but if you load .600 ball or projectiles then you use fireformed cases and do not resize.
