    6.5 grendel

Hi i dont reload, i shot 2 fallow this morning 1 with the hornady custom 123sst and another w the ppu 120 hpbt (had plans to shoot some roos ) i found brass on the bolt face and the ppu brass has ejector marks and odd rubs if that makes sense . will get some pictures later on. the ppu was a bit louder also , so is it ok to keep shooting it or am i risking a problem and a face full of hot stuff?

Weird as every lot of ppu/ highland I have dealt with(223-308_270) has been quite noticeably on the mild side, the 223 very much so.personally.....that rings alarm bells.take it back to shop you bought it from along with empty cases. Flick up photos of cases please.

Size: 107.0 KB guns a howa mini. im thinking of sticking to the hornady as it groups at a inch while the ppu is closer to 2 inches .

Hard to tell from those pics , I asume his is a new rifle?. The ejector looks to be siting proud and the spring behind a little strong , don't worry to much keep an eye on it and wait till your rifle has been run in . It will take a while maybe 200+ rounds ???.

I noticed the same with howa mini 6.5g on first firing of ppu. Left a lot of brass reside like your picture. Reloaded some and didn't appear 2nd firing so makes me think ppu brass in 6.5g is rather soft and firing hardens slightly. No issues with hornady black brass on any firing. I did test both manufacturers back to back same load and 2nd firing was very close in terms of speed/poi so put down to first firing issue.

ok that makes sense. the rifle is 2nd hand but fairly sure it hasnt had a lot of work. will use the ppu up as its good enough to use on roo's etc and keep an eye on it. will pick up some dies and try some handloads .
