Marlborough sounds can be good in the right spots or down home towards Kaikoura you've got the sawcut gorge and the lower Clarence doc stuff. A dog makes things a bit more successful because it's mostly tight but the newish block down there has some nice mature beech with an eaten out understory.

Shot a wap cross at 256 and fallow about the same. I'm of the old school tho, I get as close as possible and then try n cut the distance again by 50 percent. Stalked a bull from 600 to about a125 and the wind changed driving a big red in velvet out from under me whom I shot first then the bull, this was with 100 gr partitions.
