    6.5 x 47 Lapua Reload Data Needed

    I am soon receiving a rifle in 6.5 x 47 Lapua.
Presently have dies, 123 and 129 gn SST pills, 100 cases, Fed Small Rifle Primers, and Benchmark 2 Powder.
Have only been able to find American forum information on reload recipes. Most of that is at the fast and hot end of the scale, and none of it mentions BM2.
I've prepped some work-up loads commencing at 34gns, going up in 1/2 gn increments up to 37.5.
Does anyone have good data on this calibre?
    TIA

Using a very l o n g barrel so my loads are not relevant for std barrel lengths, assuming yours is. My set up is also built on an extremely strong action so the loads may be getting up there.
Lapua Brass, Fed GM SR Primers
    123gr Lapua Scenar and 123gr A-Max 10 thou into rifling, 38gr 2208 – very accurate load.
130gr Berger Match 10 thou into rifling, 38.3gr VV N140.
130gr Berger Match 10 thou into rifling, 38.0gr Reloder 15 – extremely accurate load.
Also have used 130gr JLK projectiles which won’t be of interest due to availability.
I cannot remember the velocities off the top of my head, would need to dig them out.

Your 34gr BM2 is probably a reasonably safe stating point but 37.5gr is most likely getting up there considering I was using 38.0gr of a slower powder and 123gr A-Max. Still, as always, every rifle is different. I had help starting with the 123gr stuff, but just had to suck it and see with the 130gr loads.

Try ADI's website in Aus. - ADI Powders Handloaders' Guide
From posts on other forums, the current ADI loadings are conservative, so room for movement if you need.
    Cheerso

    I'd look at a slower powder than Bm2, I use 41gn Re17, 123amax, CCI BR4 primers, start at 39gn & work up. (24" barrel rifle)

I got very good accuracy also with 2208 & 123amax, start at 36gn, I hit the sweet spot at 38.4gn, both of these are warmish loads, Re17 gave me more speed so went with that, the CCI450 Magnum primers are generally the go to for this calibre but I found the CCI BR4 primers gave me a bit more speed in my 24"barrel rifle. (+25fps)
    In my 19.5" rifle the CCI450 & Re15 did the business (123amax, 38.6gn Re15, CCI450)

    Others loads I played with,
    140Amax, 40gn Re17
    120 Pro Hunters, 42gn Re17

Good luck, it's a great calibre.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

    Yep, general consensus there.
    I use 38 of 2208 behind 123s with a CCI-450, Gives 2940 av vel with a 27" bbl and serious accuracy

I only ever used 140s so can only be helpful if you want to try those

    Hi gimp,
Happy to pick your brains for that info. Always open to trying different pill weights.

Thanks WallyR, I've tried the ADI reloading site. They have a plethora of 6.5 loads, but nothing for the 6.5 x 47 Lapua. And their latest edition doesn't include it either. I sent an email asking them and received concrete clarification.
    Cheers

Slowly getting the hang of this forum. Thanks zimmer, I'll see how it all goes.

    Thanks for the advice guys.
BTW, I will be sure to make use of my chrony during the work-up phase. To be on the safe side, AND to minimise powder wastage.

Up to about 41-42 grains of 2209 and a 140 worked well for me, ~2700 from a 20 inch barrel with CCI450
