    6.8 SPC Contender

I always wanted a TC Contender carbine - whats not to like at 5 and a half lbs, very good trigger and takedown to boot. Anyhoo the only one that was ever going to come my way was offered in 6.8 SPC, after a milliseconds consideration I said I'd take it.

So - I reckon I'm now a member of the 270 cool kids gang ( @Ryan_Songhurst ) !! I'll be using this rifle for a "pack rifle", it won't get shot much but has to be able to take anything that comes up, possibly even big reds albeit I'd be making sure I was close.

On the ammo'reloading front things got interesting - called a Cousin and after a bit of a chat came away with about 500 rounds of factory 6.8 SPC ammo in several flavours for nix.

The question is how to maximise the benefit of the "free" ammo, its mostly 110gn hollow-point stuff (3 or 4 brands). Reading up it seems this can be pretty patchy in terms of expansion etc.

There's so much ammo I don't think its even worth reloading, should I think about pulling some of the HP's and replacing them with something like a 110gn Accubond or a 115gn Gold Dot (same as a Fedral Fusion)??

The Contender has a much longer barrel than the AR's (23") but generally likes a wee bit less pressure - some sources say that they are best at not more than 48,000 psi with the 6.8/30-30 case heads so thats another factor . . .
