I duplicated a factory load which was Norma with 140 gr NBT.
Used the Norma brass AR2208 and Federal 210 primers.
Forster Co-Ax press and Redding FL dies.
No need to change it for a decade >3000 rounds).
Only ever shot the MOA for 5. No problems with 3 lug bolt.
The Brass have given up now.
Nosler Ballistic Tip have excellent terminal performance.

My go to load is 40.0gr 2208(varget) from a 16" barrel pushing a 160gr TMK at about 2450fps.

    I also load for a mates 7mm08.

    Factory length Tikka.

154gr sst doing 2649fps. 43.5 gr (it's in my book) of IMR 4166 Enduron. Flattens things I am told.

130gr speer btsp from shorter barrels is also a great performer.

Just about to start a load for my brother in law. Factory length Tikka with 2208 and 150gr TGK so will see how that performs
Keep it simple- hand me a model 7 7mm08 and I'll be right

    @Kelton

    1 word will suffice; Devestating.

I did use to use them out of my 284win but they were doing about 2800fps and bullet blow up sub 150y was a guarantee unless you went behind the shoulders.

However for for 7mm08 velocity It shouldn't be a issue. Mind you mine aren't going super quick due my barrel length.

Ive found irrespective of what I have shot their quite explosive or rather where the shot has gone which plays a big factor. Shot this nanny here at 50y. And was a golf ball entry wound at the base of the neck.

For all intents and purposes if I hit bone they will not exit, however going through shoulder blades they'll exit. When gutting animals I always like to study what the bullet did for my own reference and info. These things even when they do exit are like a grenade going off. Lots of meat damage but they are incredibly efficient at being humane.Name: 20250601_112832(0).jpg

IMHO the 7mm08 Rem is a fantastic cartridge for hunting out to 400 meters.

I used to shoot my Sako 280AI but stopped using /sold it after I got my Kimber Montana in 7mm08 19 years ago. The Kimber is 6 lbs scoped 2.5-8X - yes that is right & not a typo. It weighs 5 lbs 3 oz without scope & rings.

The 7mm08 actually bridges the 270 Win & the 308 Win.
The 120 gr TTSX will rival the 270 Win out to 400 meters for deer & Tahr.
The 160 gr Accubond does 2600 fps as a very accurate load and takes deer easily at 250 meters and I am confident it will do so at 300 meters.

pet load for my 7-08 is 41.5grns of 2208 pushing a 139grn hornady SPBT, was using the 139grn SST but found them a bit explodey at my normal hunting range of 10-70 yrds

    Greetings,
Working with Remington Core-Lokt projectiles a few years back and working with the 19 inch barrel in a friends rifle 41.5 grains of AR2208 chronographed 2,585 fps with the 150 grain and 42.5 grains chronographed 2,711 fps with the 140 grain. Both shot well.
A little over 40 years ago @NIMROD was having trouble with flyers in his 7mm-08 using W760 powder (popular at the time) and 130 grain Speer projectiles. I suggested trying IMR powders. IMR4064 and IMR4895 were tested with 44 grains of IMR4064 and 42 grains of IMR4895 gave decent accuracy with both loads coming from Ken Waters Pet Loads report published late in 1980. The44 grain load of IMR4064 is a couple of grains over the Hodgdon data for the 130 grain Sierra HPTBT. It appears that I have some of the 130 grain Speer FB on my shelves and there is IMR4064 powder in the cupboard. Having access to a chronograph was barely a dream in the early 1980's but perhaps I can do some belated chronographing of that load.
    Regards Grandpamac.
