    7mm-08 w the 162 sst ?

pulled a few 162 SST from some remaining Rem mag loads, guna put a few thru the 7mm 08, going to use 2208,,,, seated to cannelure for starters with 38gr charge.....

A fellow forum go-er has sent a box of 162 SST down aswell so will have a few to try out if they are accurate in the kimber

I rekon a few of you guys were using a 162 for the bush stalking ? with the 7-08?
should be usable to 300m an ideally a 200m under round for standard hunting without clicking an stuffin round long range styles

Hows it performing and whats yer loads roughly?

    cheers

    nice Danny.
first group at 38.5gr showed promise! possibly play with eating depth an a little more powder maybe and seemed good in the recoil and plenty oomphaa

Yep accurate a-plenty and way less damage to meat, was a close shot however so a rock would have given the same outcome.
Speed nope as I don’t have a chrony but I’m led to believe 2650-2680 (with a higher powder weight) with no adverse signs. This load is probably 2600 or under in a 19” barrel.

Plenty of grunt alright and find a bit of accuracy and good to go with that mate...

I loaded 162 eldx for a mate in his 18" 708. Was doing well over 2600 but was 2206h and a hot load. Super accurate and plenty of grunt up close and out a long way

yeah true, i have some 2206h too, but more 2208 so will stay with that- also have 213 which would prob work good in a longer barrel.. so 08 for the mid win.

if i was dialling i wouldnt be concerned for the speed, but without it and just standard shooting, i wont be utilising the projectile for its intended purpose but being fairly slow il treat it just as a fancy soft point at 2600fps say, it aught to do fairly well in the penetration and 'wound channel' department...

i am somewhat falling hard for the 7mm-08 as all round now i know how dialling and moa shit works, so i wouldnt be suprised if i do something like putting that Clicker scope on the Kimber and playing with 500meters.... i dont really see why i need a 7 Rem mag for that..........

I use eld-ms in my 14.5” 7mm08 with 44grains of 2208 they were only going 2450 but they worked really well shot a few deer at “longer” range from 270-380 was my longest deer with that load but they were really effective

danny whats ya mag length on that thing? mine worked out to be like 71.5mm , alot shoter than id like but is within the 7-08 specs, the sst isnt close to the lands as is.

havnt shot this brass for accuracy, 40gr 08 in sized 308 PP brasses.... they shot about 6moa lower than the 140gr woodleigh load..? so i may adjust before i shoot these to be closer to bull
