    7mm projectiles for hunting

    Afternoon All

I'm looking for some guidance with 7mm projectiles
I will soon be doing a little loading for what was Nevereadyfreddy's Model100 .284Win and as I've only got limited factory ammo I need to plan for the future.
So given it will only be used for up to 250m and the rifle is designed around factory length ammo and being a semi probably I probably need to crimp the ammo, what would be a suggested non premium bullet to try first?

    Thanks

150 Sierra Gamekings is was I use for up to 300m. They seem to work much better than the 139/140gr (Hornady/Sierra or Nosler) I used in the past. This in form a 7mm08 and I am picking your results would be even better from a 284W.

Have a look at the ELD-X 150 gr bullet. Even the Hornady interlock soft nose bullet is a good all rounder. Noslar ballistic Tips work well as do any of the Sierra Game kings or Speer Hot Core bullets. Most of the Cup and Core bullets are fine especially at the range you have stated.

The 139 SST works pretty well at 7-08 velocities. Have used them for a long time, and can't think of any deer/goat that has gone far after the shot. Only projectile that has been more consistent for me is the 30 cal 208 amax:-).

If you want a non premium bullet the Remington core-lokt are cheap and reliable.

Good point, I always forget about them. Reloaders is selling off the last of their Core-lokts, I might stick my head in this week.

Sierra Game Kings, end of story. 140g or 150g whichever one it likes the best.

They shoot really well and kill dam good too.

    Right quick update.
Went into Reloaders yesterday had a look at what's available and taking into account recommendations above, what it's being feed through and that it is currently using 150grainers at the moment I walked out with a packet of 154gn Hornady Interlocks.
