I have VXR 3-7 x 33 good bush scope with the red dot in the middle. Like how it turns itself off after no movement for a while
They say the glass is slightly better than VX 2

Just did some hand loading for my Brno 600 7x57 today. It is very long throated for the heavier projectiles. I was using 140gr corelokts, Norma brass, Federal 210 primers and 2213sc powder. The projectiles were seated approx .284" inches into the case. 49.5gr was suppose to give 2700fps. I loaded 50gr and only got 2500fps. I can fit a bit more powder in so will probably work up to 53gr. Eventually I will probably try a 160 or 175gr projectile.

I have put together a 7x57 on a DWM 1908 action. Douglas barrel, 3-9 Swarovski, conetrol mounts, fancy walnut stock that I made. Love it to bits and will never sell it. Easy to load for. Suggest buy a hundred new Lapua or Norma brass and go for it. Have settled on a load of 130 gr Speer with 48 gr 2209. Have shot large reds down to hares with it. I load this calibre for two other guys. A great calibre that just goes to show that you can only kill something so dead without using a cannon.

Just shot mine for the first time in anger.
I used S and B 140 gr SP factory ammo, and it was fairly harsh on the meat.
Great round, and it has been around a long time to prove it.
I just need to find some different ammunition for it and I will be a happy man.

Never used one Toby so can't give an opinion.
I heard a few had reticle alignment problems. Otherwise they seem pretty good.

The HD 5 is a nice scope for similar money. Optics appear better than my Z5 swaro.

Two have friends have 7x57s one a BSA monarch the other a sako both beautiful lookers and bloody deadly shooters. One reloads with no probs, plenty of powder and projectile choices. Looking at the paper ballistics way better than the 7/08 (a comment that may attract some attention). Been around a bloody long time, wasn't it one of WM Bells favourite calibres?

    7x57

    A Great calibre.
Would be my favourite calibre. It isn't now because I don't own one now.
I've never liked the VXR's but an HD 5 and that's a different story. The Zeiss are excellent scopes IMHO.

    W760 for 7x57.
That was Gaeme Henry's go to for 140 grn. I recall speeds like 2900 fps from 24" barrel.

I have two 7x57, both Winchester featherweights, one from 1970 in Nz and a limited run M70 from a couple years ago,
most of the USA ammo, with the exception of superformance is slow, and week due to the many old rifles out there.
so Europe ammo or hand load.
Any rifle on a new action or M98 and above can be handloaded to beat the 7-08, althought many hand loading books, show the 7-08 to be the same,
I hand load for my new 7x57, and it prints, amax, and 154gr interlock pretty much the same place and 140gr partions a bit of center.
I am 4 gr over book I think, with 162gr amax, but less than 3/4 groups,
Here is a bit of info on my results from hand loading a new featherweight, 7x57. I had no problem finding loads, and a book spec its a pussy cat to shoot.

Factory ammo I have seen around here in CHC is Hornady Superformance 140 gr, Federal 180? gr (seems a bit slow at that weight), Highland 140 gr and Sellior and Bellot 140gr. Only tried the S and B, it shot really well but as I mentioned earlier the SP ammo was a tad hard on meat.
Would like to see if any shops had the Remington Corelokt 140 gr , anyone seen it around?
