OK so have loaded up a few rounds and went to give the rifle a go for the first time.
New barrel new chamber and has been sent and pasted proof in Birmingham.
New Norma brass.
Remington large rifle primes.
Neck sized.
Pill size Hornady match 162gr.
22.40 grains of Trail boss to fire form the new cases.
Fire the first five rounds and hard to extract the cases after firing.
No signs of pressure around the primer nor are there any bulges on the cases.
No signs of powder burn around the neck area.
Only sign is a double grip ring on the necks.

Looks pretty roughed up. Maybe a poor chamber finish as stevedog said. Any burrs or metal standing proud could be grabbing the brass as it swells after firing.
-
Identical marks on each neck. Have you got a bore scope for the chamber?
-
Thanks guys I'll run it back to the gunsmith tomorrow. See what he says.
-
Looks like it could be tooling marks in the neck area, would account for the rings after firing as the other guys have said.
-
Probably goes without saying but take some fired brass to the gunsmith so he can look at it
Certainly looks/sounds like a rough chamber though
-
Done took it off to the gunsmith this morning, with fired brass and reloaded rounds.
He's agreed something is not right and so he's taken it in to have a good look at it.
We even got some factory rounds out and measured those up to use as a comparison to my loaded rounds. Came in almost identical.

Anyone for advice on getting these marks off the rims?
Cheers

keh?
