im not sure thats going to work out safer, I dont use the ones I have because Im concerned they will splash on contact with the skull rather than crack it
its probably all in my head but the soft cast (i have hollow points) dont give me confidence on cow sized foreheads
probably be fine but id take literally any jacketed bullet or fmj in preference

I would us any load data for a similar bullet weight in a 308 as a start point. Use a chrony. I found that the shotgun type powders give much lower ES than Trailboss which seems counter intuative for a powder that better fills the case. If you have TB load 10 gr and see what velocity you get. With subs I found that velocity and powder charge follows a close linear response - because we are not looking for a max load and pressure signs. I would load one at 10gr and then go up or down from there. If you get them at 950 - 975 they will be very quiet compared to 1050

just make one walk outside and fire it into the ground on your lawn

    adjust if necessary

the best you can ask for is a starting point which would be 10 grains if you want to be safe and probably 8.5 gr if we had to place bets

with unknow bullet(major problem) and unknown cases(minor problem) capacity isn't known
changing from win to fed primers messed my sub load up

subs are the only thing Iv found this far that have benifitted from a crimp if you happen to have dies that do that
reduced the group from 4 inches at 30m to an inch with lead cast

52.2 grs of water for the 7-08 and 55.6 grs for the 7x57

so its basically a 308 case capasity pushing basically the same weight as my ballistic tip load which I used 8.2gr TB on
    fed primers/165ballistic tips/ppe cases

well the 151s pass through head of sheep or goats,I retrieved only 1 round from about 20 used on house muttons....I went off idea of subs completely,as the .223 with supers is just so much more emphatic /reliable if my piss poor aiming is slightly off,the lack of shock/transpher with subs make your aim very important. at 15 yards and under it wont be an issue,,,my feral sheep often stretched it out to 75yards,and Ive sold both my rifles in .308 calibre now so cant go that way even if wanted to continue.

yep iv found subs just keep trucking when they have a bit of weight behind them im happy on sheep/goats pigs to use a 22 up to about 60 pound but after that id much prefer the bigger bullet and the ability to go in the ear hole if a side shot presents
I had one failure to penitrate on a large pig at close range (7m) with perfect conditions with the 22lr sub which pushed me to step up to 30cal

no way id take that chance on a pet bull just based on skull thickness and from experience if the first shot doesn't work you have a running animal
they scream then they run as fast as they can
