Thread: ADI 308 Projectiles / Load development

Team,

I have what i believe to be 100-200 pulled ADI projectile 144gr or there abouts.

Has anyone put together a load using these projectiles, ive a stack of ADI2208 for my 308 target rifle and would like to use that powder if possible.

The rifle being used is a Norinco M305 (M14) ive already an accurate hunting load for it so these are more for fun than anthing, or scrub bashing, who knows!

Yes 45gr 2208 in an ADI case behind a 155gr MK projectile was virtually the NRA standard so same with 144gr projectiles should be OK. (Usual reloading caveats apply of course)
The 144gr ADI was on occasion a truly shite projectile with unfortunately the Australians passing on some of their lower quality batches to NZ.

I managed to aquire them a couple of years back, i cant recall where from exactly but ive a about 100 - 200 of pull ex-milsup projectiles, one lot has ADI, ive tried loading them in the Omark, not with a lot of success, thats why i think they were relegated to the back of the projectile cupboard! But ive decided to load up something for fun with the M14.

Best of luck with them Tertle. Blasting them away thru an M14 is probably all they are good for. In NRA shooting here in NZ when the transition occurred from the ADI 144s to first Lapua Lock Bases and then the Sierra MK's the difference in performance was enormous. Rifle Clubs and individuals who had stockpiled the 144's were left with vast stocks of them that no one wanted.

Yeah, im currently using Dyer projectiles in my NRA set up, The M14 needs feeding, hence where these are heading, after that i will keep the hunting load for hunting and i may tinker with some cast loads, but i will throw some together with 45gr 2208 and see what happens, the worst thing possibly that could happen with the ADI's is i get to spend a day at the range having fun!

I've found 45gr a bit hot in my rifle, depends alot on case and headspace. Maybe ok with the lighter projectile, feed anything from 150 to 168gr on 44.3 ADI2208, good case life no flat primers no obvious case stretch. Always found the need to ream the primer seats for full depth on most cases.............just my experience loading for m14/305

Tertle, are you shooting the Dyers out of an Omark ?

What weight are they ? Are they the club ones via NRA, or different supplier ?

Good advice for loading for a semi auto.

Anyone know what the BC is for the 144gr ADIs pls ?

+1, I seem to have acquired 500 of the bloody things.

BC for ADI .224 62gn would eb good as well.

Interesting.. In my target rifle I'm running lapua brass and the OTM lapua scenars 12 thou jump 42.5gr 2206h and that's heavily compressed. 2960fps ish. I must have a very short throat if you guys can get 45gr into your loads.

heavily compressed is 52grains 2208 with a 130ttsx seated to fit mag!

I'm running 2208 45.5gn loads with 150gn FMJs OAL 56.46mm (4.88mm jump) and 44.5gn with 155gn Amaxes OAL 55.2mm (3.9mm jump) all Lake City brass. I sold off my Lapua brass, so can't check the case capacity. That's weird that your loads are compressed with 2206H.
