    Anyone hunting with a 6XC

    Hi All,
Just got my hands on a blaser R8.
    One barrel is for 6XC.
There isn't a lot of load data available for this round unless you're shooting 115 DTAC at 1000yrds from a metre long pipe.
I'd like to run projectiles in the 70-85 grn range for hunting
Seems most are using loads around 37-40 grains of whatever powder they use.
4350 seems popular, particularly for the heavier bullets.
I have BM 8208 and AR2206h,I'm thinking I'll load some up of each in that charge weight range and see what they go like.
    Any thoughts?

Extremely accurate with Berger 95s from memory. Like seriously one hole groups

I suspect it's close enough to a 6mm-250 that you could use the data for that as a starting point...
Rifle - ADI Word Class Powders and Ammunition
    Barefoot and Tentman like this.

If guys are using 37-40 gr of h4350 I wouldn't be loading the same charge weight of 2206h. I would think 2206h and bm8208 would both be a bit fast burning

I'm currently using 95gn Targex but have a batch of 85gn sierras loaded with 2206H that I was testing. I have everything packed away at the moment as I'm currently playing with a different rifle but pretty sure I loaded them with 36gr 2206H and a magnum primer. Was doing smack on 3050fps out of the factory R8 barrel.

That was where I was told to start when looking last year.

I load 30.5gr 2208 in my 6mmBR with 105 gr and 31.5gr with 87gr HPBT 2206H is too fast for the BR so would not be much use in the 6XC get some 2208 and 2209
Take a look at the 6mmBR website they have loads for the 6XC and most other cartridges used for long range shooting,
I am going to try Hornady's 103gr ELD-X in it when I need to resupply should be a good projectile in the 6XC.

One of my all time favourite hunting rounds in one of my all time favourite rifle platforms.

My R8 pushed the 105’s at 2930. Literally one hole groups. Crazy accurate and so easy to shoot well.

I used 95gr TMK's in the R8 I had, with Norma URP powder. Extremely accurate combo at just shy of 3,000fps.

Got plently of excess powder sitting here...

If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more

Hey thanks for the feedback here.
I started out with 3 loads of 2206h ranging from mid to max charges from the book.
None of these were flash so think i'll try some 2208,RL17 or 4350,probably whichever I can use in something else as well atm
got some 70gn noslers to try as well.
Happy days ,nice caliber to shoot

I found AR2209 worked really well in my custom Howa 6XC with 20" barrel using Berger 87gr, 95gr and 105gr (all VLD's)
    Winchester 760 also worked well.

PM if you want some load data.

    I'm using the 107smk in my 6XC with 38.5gr 2209.
Taken goats and fallow from 30meters out to 630meters.

2209/h4350 and win760/h414/Belmont760 are the powder that work well in the 6xc case.
