    Anyone shooting a .40 S&W?

Any advantage over a 9mm in cost of reloading or performance in a handling sense?

Only advantage I can see is that you can make major power factor for the scoring advantage in certain pistol games.

More expensive if you are counting pennies (literally)
    S&W = soft and weak
    10mm =
    shooternz and stumpy like this.

Not a glock fan at all.
.40 s&w is a bit dearer initially in the platform I am looking at as well.
Don't know much about the cal.

However I can get 20 Rd 9mm mags for the Tacops 226 and the overall feel is more ergo for me.
I am deciding between the MK 25 and the tacops for now.
A CZ 75 at the right price would be on the cards. 😆

I'm shooting it, only slightly more expensive than 9mm for reloading, major is the advantage, fun caliber to shoot

    Anyone shooting a .40 S&W?

Before I wrecked my thumb I outshot most guys in major shooting my 9 in minor.
I was minute of barn afterwards. Ready to start again 10months later
    Less recoil can = faster.
You can shoot AA all day slowly but a AC or CC shot fast beats it when on the clock.
If you want 40sw recoil, then load your 9 hot with heavy pills.
I don't and haven't seen any advantages with the 40.
    Walk before running?
May as well shoot 45 single stack

Will keep it in mind. Any extras on it?

The Shadow I was looking at costs more than the Tacops.
But I have not shopped around that much to be fair.
Only getting back into it myself after a long break. More for my son's sake as he is more interested in pistols than shotguns at the moment.

I shot a 40S&W in Std class for 7-8 years before I had a fit of stupidity and brought a new open gun.
Started with a Para P16-40 and then upgraded to an STI. not a good choice, gave up 3 rounds . Para would hold 20 in the mag and one in the gun, STI would only do 17 in the mage and one in the gun with one (Para) easily still fitting the box and the other (STI) still fitting but having to be wedged in an out of the "BOX"

I would go 40 only if you are shooting std class

I donot see any reason to have a 40 , you may as well stick to 9mm & 45ACP .

Get the SIG 226 , I have a 75 and its nice but the SIG is streets ahead as far as a modern combat pistol .

Been some pretty strange comments in this thread.

I shot IPSC at regional and national level for several years. Both Production and Standard division.

40S&W benefit over 45 is mag capacity in a double stack, 2 extra rounds can make or break a medium course of fire.

Scoring wise major factor is a massive advantage over minor. At the top level shot splits and overall stage times are not any faster for minor (9mm) shooters over major. In Aus you have a 9mm calibre restriction, and the guys STILL shoot major by using 357 Sig to get around it.

Go to any national level or international IPSC shoot and look at the calibres used for Standard division, you will find very few 9x19mm pistols at the top.

In Classic division, with the single stacks, you can have 10 mag capacity for 9mm or 8 for 45. There is some talk that Classic will be moving away from 9mm back to 45 only...

You can of course download a 40s&W to minor. I shot a season of Production like this with good results.
