Barnes Velocity
So im working up a load for my mighty 270 and I'm using 110g TTSX. Have no experience with Barnes at all.
I seem to read that the faster the better, at 53g W760 I'm shooting them in the same hole and I want to stop there but only averaging 2950fps. Don't have a lot of projectiles. Barnes has a book max of 57.5. Is my 2950 fast enough?
This is a bush gun and 250m would be the longest shot I'd most likely see.

they will kill just fine.....I used a few with good results...book speed similar to what you getting.you do want them as fast as you can..so MAYBE if your rifle is normally good with a hot load try 2 loads up near max and see....
they wont do anything a good 150grn wont do better, but will do it with less recoil.
red stag at 200ish,chest shot..did couple of wobbly steps and dropped..no meat lost
red hind at 40 ish, raking chest shot, dropped on spot and no meat lost
2 chammy single round 250ish...both tipped over after maybe 15 seconds of wobbling around

Shot lot's with them in 6.5 06. 100gr. Work really well. The faster the better and like hitting bone.

Have used them in .270 (110 TTSX) at 3350 using slower stick powders and a full case, and they are fast killers if you have velocity at impact and smash the shoulder, lung shots kill slow unless velocity high - 2950 starting velo, I would be aiming for bone every time.
Currently loading for .270 again and have 110TSX at 3250, not fast enough, won't use on deer until I get my target velo for range 0 - 400. In the meantime, I will kill deer with ordinary Speer Hocor 130's and not feel any disadvantage for using them.
Other people will have different results I'm sure.

Use them for headshots and find some 140g Nosler Ballistic Tips
The 140 will drop everything in front of you out to as far as you can see them
-
Yep, run a slow burning stick powder to get good case fill and as much velocity as possible.
Won't post loads but my 110 TTSX load for the .270 will toast brass after 2 firings.

You have it shooting very well and not many left. Is 2950 fast enough - yes. Go hunting and aim for the shoulder.
You can always crank it up later when you get a few more. 760 is an easy powder to load.

Use 2213sc. Load for mate. It just slays them.
-
Use them in my bush pig .308 as a light recoil load, going a lot slower than that and still kill well.

My wife loved my 270 Sako 75 Finnlight with the 110g TTSX & they were accurate 14-16mm for 3 shot group & mild to shoot, so we took it as my back up rifle to my usual EDC a Mountain Rifle in 06,for 5 yrs while guiding in UK,US,Oz & Africa, another guides wife tried them & liked it as well so we loaded for them as well.
We took every thing with them from Roe deer to Impala & Elk, they usually show 2 distinct accuracy nodes IME ,l found by far 3300fps was the best recoil/game performance (max load tried was 3445fps).Aimed at just behind the shoulder, to exit behind off shoulder they leave around a cricket ball or 3 knuckle size exit hole & if as hoped it clips a rib the internal damage is devastating.
We shot hundreds of pigs with them in Oz at close range & it would completely blood shot both shoulders with the CB exit, her longest shot was a Impala at 514 yards dropped like a sack of shit with the behind the shoulder shot .She took the Elk while she was just out with me for the hunt, we were snugged up in between a large split boulder as it was more comfortable for her out of the wind , the Elk came straight at us from the opposite direction we were glassing ,the only thing l can think of was it was a favored spot for it to get moss/lichen or rub, she took it at 40 yards & it never knew what hit it .
IMO as they are not weight shedders,so you want to punch them through for best performance on game,my guess is you have found the low velocity accuracy spot for your rifle ,personally l would try for a higher speed node. .

With W760 and a 130 it is normal to load around 55 grains for 3000 fps and good case life. With a 110 you should be able to push on a few grains. One 760 will give equivalent velocities to 09 and 13 but a touch less than RL 22 and less again than 26.

@Dicko Back when we were using those loads of ours from memory H4350 was the Barnes recommended powder that we used for the 110 TTSX & RL 17 was the next lesser recommend ,then W760 . I just to dug up my old load book it was 57.8g of H4350 we used & it was a mild load in our guns & with RL17 the MAX book load was 58.0g for 3470fps & MAX load for W760 was 57.5g for around 3350.(As always work out what works for your own stuff )
