    Beam scale/camera setup

    Hi,
I want to set up my Samsung mobile camera to zoom in on the redding powder scale beam for powder weighing. Just to make it easier to see. I've made up a simple stand.

My problem is after much stuffing around I just can't get the camera screen to stay on more than about 2 minutes. Which means I have to put in my pin and set it all up again.
I've set the mobile screen time out to the max (10 minutes) to no avail. Camera still shuts down.

Would like indefinite but 10 minutes would be good.

    Can it be done?
    Any suggestions?

Make sure your phones not going into power consevation mode, which will blank the screen after a few seconds... maybe see if there's a setting that keeps camera app "on top" what we really need is a 12 year old, cos they'll be all over it

How old are you? My bet is 17. Lol
Because power saving sounded pretty good.
    BUT it's turned off.lol

Camera seems to turn off, not just a blank screen.

    Roll another dice. Lol

LMAO add another 39 and you'd be close!
If you're not actually using the camera, taking pictures then yes it will, mine is the same, goes into standby mode, tapping the screen on my phone wakes it back up but.....individual results may vary!
2nd option, put it on video and record, then it'll keep screen active...delete video afterwards
Also, I have reverse old timers disease....try to recall the simple word I want to use and brain gives me the less simple equivalent!

I have no personal experience, but a quick Google search suggests:

You have to go to the galaxy store, then download an app called "good lock". Then, in good lock, scroll around until you find camera assistant. In camera assistant, scroll down to camera timeout and set to 10 mins.. Which is as long as itll let you set it.

I haven't looked into this in any more detail than I copied here though.

And I thought you were about 13. But, nope. Lol.

Created an account and found the app.
Lots of options but zip for camera.

    From your home screen:
    • Open Settings (gear icon)
    • Tap "Display"
    • Tap "Screen timeout"
    • Choose your preferred duration (15 seconds to 10 minutes, or "Never" while charging on some models Or something like that.....

Sure you're looking in the right place on the app? Apparently:

    1) Open the Good Lock app on your smartphone and tap the Life up tab.
    2) Scroll down until you find Camera Assistant. Tap on the module.
    3) Tap Install at the bottom. You can also search for Camera Assistant in the Galaxy Store and download it from there. If you can't find the app, it may be unavailable in your region.

I do this to remove parallax on the beam scale (need to have consistent camera height relative to the scale) and just switch the camera to video and hit record. It stays on as long as your recording and just delete the file afterward.

Or another possibility - under your phone settings search for 'Magnifier'. On my phone it's under Accessibility-Vision Enhancements-Magnifier. You can enable it and configure which button you use to turn it on. It uses the camera, but it's not the camera app. It's actually better for some things as you can run the torch at the same time. On my phone this hadn't timed out after 8mins testing.

There is also an android app for this (magnifier), which I've just had a play with and seems to work well.

Just a thought, what happens if you use the camera to record a video, does the screen still timeout then?
you'd probably have to adjust the recording quality as it will fill up storage pretty quick and go through battery quickly aswell, but might circumvent the screen turning off.

Glad you're on track. I must be over 12 as my eyesight is starting to tell me I also need this for my scales.
