I was looking for cheaper 308 ammo and came across Belmont (Belmont Ammunition | Belmont Ammunition).
The price is cheaper compared to other ammos.
Have anyone tried these ammos?
Also are these cartridges reloadable?
Thanks :)

i have had a few different calibres of belmont and all were reloadable , and shot fine ....
Yep, no issues with the Belmont I've used.
yes it is,and they will taylor a load for your needs...eg 100 rounds speer 130grn HP is a favourite with west coast chopper shooters for good reason.
Might give it a go, doubt it's guna beat hornady superperformance though, 3 shots touching at 100m but I'd hope so at $3.50 a shot
Belmont's also NZ made, I try support local wherever possible.
I've used their 100 grain hollow points on fallow for 20 years- never lost an animal. They are accurate in my Winchester Featherweight, 30mm groups at 100m.
I asked a couple mates (one scottish and one dutch) what the difference was as they both didn't like paying for things. Before the dutch fellow could reply the scotty stated (in a thick scottish accent) "We errr thaa saaaame az theee durtch boot widoot thaaa dape porketts" (in english "We are the same as the dutch but without the deep pockets...")
Yeah the ammo is good. Im trying the powder at the mo.
Brass is head stamped NNY or PPU either way its PRVI Partisan brass. I didnt have any issues reloading it in 308..
Unfortunately they stopped doing .284 and 7mm RM so reloading using their powder.
They supply DOC and a lot of pest control blokes with .223 ammo as well as the NZDF ammo, I was blown away by how many rounds they do for NZDF.
If only I could get my hands on some of that NZDF 5.56 ammo....... its pretty decent stuff!
You can they supply same to the market place. Contact them direct for sales.
I use there M198 ammo (55g) in my 165 ar15 getting 3050fps with groups running about 20 mm.
Nice, I'll do just that. Thanks for the info :)
I first started using their ammo back in 1990. I used to turn up at the NZDA range with my stock standard BRNO .222, my cheap closed-cell foam sleeping mat to lay on and a box of their 50 gr ammo, then clean up in the prone 100m target. Guys would turn up with their flash rifles and hand loads... and my cheap ODL (as they used to be called) ammo would whip their asses every time. After that I'd lose it on the standing shots - ha! I was shit at that discipline.
Anyhow, 26 years later I'm still pumping through the Belmont .222 50 gr SP at a fair rate... I'm sitting somewhere between 5,000 and 6,000 rounds of .222 consumed. I've never had any misfires or mechanical problems - but around 2005 I used to find one bent case in each box of 50 rounds. Literally bent... the projectile and neck of the case would be cocked over. You'd pick it up when loading the magazine. Aside from that, great product.
Over time I've used hundreds of their .243 rounds (more than 1,700... many of which have been reloaded at least once) and a couple hundred 7mm08 rounds. Undoubtedly I've shot more animals with Belmont ammo than with any other manufacturer. In the larger calibre products I've never, ever had a problem. Ever.
Overall I've always found Belmont good to deal with, frequently cheaper than most other options out there and best of all - a Kiwi company. They used to do a "free freight Friday" a couple of years ago... that was awesome and for me made a huge difference when ordering. I'd love to see that come back again.
Give them a go mate, I'm certain you won't be disappointed.
I used them for years both in nzda target shooting and hunting. Have used their 223 range and 243 also their 308 range. Good service and a great product, I re load now so I don't buy their product but looking at their online catalogue seems they have scaled down the amount of product they used to have? Was looking for some 8mm stuff
