BLR 81 in 243...anyone else loading one?

Got the takedown and having trouble getting it going. Only tried RE26 and great speed but poor groups - 2-3" - and tried different seating depths with 95gn SSTs. 1:10" and 20" barrel but also tried 90gn BTs and better but not good - although more to try. Can also try 2209 and see if better.

Primers at 48.5gn look great so I am wondering if RE26 likes a bit of compression and top end...which I expect I must be approaching.

Really liking the versatility of RE26, goes well in 280AI (162gn @ 2970fps) and promising in 260AI. Just need to sort the boy's 243.

what does rifle do with other ammo??? federal blue box 100grn???? will give you benchmark..... if you starting from fresh you could be chasing your tail...presume you have done all the other checks...scope,mounts,bases,action screws, stock not doing funky things, have you tried shooting group with other hand on the magazine rather than the forestock??? resting on soft rolled up jumper etc....
we had no issue getting group with older BLR just tight chambering with reloads....

Yep done a ground up review checking scope, reload process (found I had to take a shim out of my Sinclair priming tool to properly seat primer). Had a box of Remington to get on paper and they were all over the place. Crown is good. Trigger is horrible. Will check stock screws.

    49gn RE26 didn't improve groups.

ok bud.....first suggestion....put the chrony away FOR NOW.....
You said remington factory was no good either......so you might have a finiky rifle to begin with.personally ANY reloading done from here on would be no more than 5 of ANY load till you can suss out what it likes....but you still havent established if its the load that is issue.my older brother has turned in some very respectable groups with his BLR over the years (the guys on range didnt like the short barrel and called it a flame thrower) the one we had indeed had horrible trigger (sucked and blew at same time) the trick is to accept it sucks and learn to live with it...get your rest super steady...try a sleeping bag under forestock and your off hand on magazine well,so its not pressuring forestock, take your time to get rock solid...rolled up jumper under toe of stock etc. you are after all testing rifle not self so any advantage to can create is gold.
again federal bluebox 100grn loads have good deserved reputation...believe chap on here uses them all the time on game.... they usually shoot nice tidy groups....so do twoforfrees so your one is unusual...Ive had 2 rifles in last 10 years that went to custard...both times it was the scope BASES themselves that were loose....
keep us informed and will keep trying to help.

Found this forearm screw was quite loose. Set the torque wrench to 40 and got it as tight as I dare. Looks like it pus pressure on the barrel but I'm not familiar with this design to know for sure.

Good tips re shooting. I have a good bench set up and can turn in sub 0.25MOA groups with my 260AI when I am up to it. Shot a couple of groups like this one with my 280AI Forbes in same session just to see if it is me that is the problem (normally is).

The trigger is a pig but the Bradley cheek rest helps with a firm cheek weld. Will buy some Fed blue too to set a benchmark.

Well, under 1.5" now so might have something to start working with. Low shot was first and I thought I pulled it badly. Son shot a group with 2 overlapping and one quite off like mine.

You probably know about how the triggers on these are a right so I won’t go there.
Mines a 73 built in Belgium. But it is fussy on ammo. Loves Norma hates Winchester. Goes on with Federal. Never reloaded for it. I did see on here where someone split the plastic barrel ring. You could do away with this altogether.
Otherwise do as has been mentioned above.
